EPS Geofoam Applications: Road Widening
EPS Geofoam eliminates the need for compaction and fill testing, reduces road construction time, and minimizes impact on existing roadways, as well as adjacent structures and/or buried utilities.
Benefits of EPS Geofoam Use in Road Widening Thanks to its high compressive resistance, EPS Geofoam is able to withstand induced traffic forces without causing unacceptable loading of underlying soils or adjacent fill. In addition, EPS Geofoam allows you to construct steeper slopes than traditional soil, which, in turn, reduces the amount of additional right-of-way that needs to be acquired. EPS Geofoam is also an excellent choice when working over pre-existing buried utility lines, such as high pressure gas lines, water mains, and communication cables. Traditional fills and soil can (and do) produce an excessive settlement, resulting in exceeded strain tolerances for buried utilities - which can ultimately lead to failure, or worse. Using EPS Geofoam, however, you can eliminate large settlements and avoid expensive - and time-consuming - utility line interruption, replacement, or relocation.
